D-DAY plus 16hrs

Filed under: USMC, Recon - leatherneck @ 21:09

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But I didn’t qualify at this screening. I had some troubles in the pool. It really sucked, not to mention the water was a crisp 65 degrees. I have no other option now but to get back on the hoarse and try again. I really wanted to make it the first time, but only 4 out of the 30 that where there made it. But on a lighter note, tomorrow I have to go on the NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) of the Quarter Board. It would be nice to win that, but it’s not on the list of my top priorities.

D-DAY minus 21 hours

Filed under: USMC, Recon - leatherneck @ 9:00

Well folks, this is it. I have less then 24 hours till I take my recon screening. I don’t know how I feel. I’m excited, nervous, and stressed. I can’t really explain it. Just thinking about it makes my heart pound in my chest. Tomorrow is the day that I have been training for all these months. I just hope it was enough. Tomorrow morning at 0530 PST I will be in my cammies starting the swimming portion of the screening. Well enough talk, I have to get going. MOTIVATE KILL!

Recon Challenge

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Recon - leatherneck @ 20:33

A few months ago I decided that I wanted to take the recon challenge. I finally got the chance. The screening to be accepted is as follows. 1st Class PFT. (3 mile run, Pullups, and crunches) Then to the pool for a 500 Meter swim, 30 minute water tred, 10 Meter rifle retrival, and a 25 Meter underwater swim. I think that although i can be even more fit then i already am, I will have a 95% chance of being able to complete the screening with no problems. The only obsticle i forsee is the 25 Meter underwater swim. My first screening is sceduled for the 6th of this month. If you think you have what it takes I will be posting my daily workouts to follow along with.
