New Marines

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 13:20

Why does it seem that most of the new marines we get are retards. I don’t know if it’s me but they come to the fleet lazy, and without a clue. Sometimes you even show them what the right things to do are. And they still act like there still in High School. They where even bitching when I ran the platoon for 5 miles today. It wasn’t even at a fast pace. Sometimes it gets very disappointing. But I learned a long time ago that you can’t let others bring you down. Just plug away doing the right things. I have to give a class this afternoon on some Maintence Managment paperwork. Also I’d like to say hello to all my new visitors to the blog. I had over 15 visitors yesterday. I think it has to do with this page being listed in MilBlogging.

PFT…

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 16:22

Today we had to run a PFT or Physical Fitness Test for you peaple who don’t do acronyms. It consists of a 3 mile run, 20 pullups, and 100 crunches. You are scored on runtime, and how many pullups and crunches you can do. Each catagory is worth 100 points, with, a total score of 300. I ran a high first class finishing with a 288. I think I could have done better, and beat my best score of 292, but i puked all over myself at the finish line so I can’t ask for more. I just want to remind some of my friends that I will accually be home for christmas this year and I would like to make sure I see everyone. So start trying to figure out some days where we can all get together. Oh and for some of you faggots who like making queer pictures. I know where you work. You know who you are…….

Gear Exchange Part II

Filed under: USMC, Daily - leatherneck @ 21:16

So today we exchanged all our old gear for new, as we like to call it, “High Speed, Low Drag Shit”. We got a bunch of shit that will hopefully make our lives a little better on this next deployment. Nothing else of any importance happened today. Tommorrow we start practice for the Marine Corps Birthday ball. I’m hoping it won’t take all day as most things of that nature do. I better get to bad now I have to be up at 0500 for PT.

Gear Exchange

Filed under: USMC, Daily - leatherneck @ 19:22

Well tommorrow we are exchanging our old gear, for the gear we will be taking to Iraq. It’s going to suck because it’s going to be this long drawn out process of turning gear in then being issued new gear. On another note a buddy of mine is going to airborne school, as his re-enlistment bonus. To get into the school he has to run a PFT. So also tommorrow I will be administrating his PFT. The busy days will they ever end ? The good news is I bought my ticket home for the Holidays. I will be back home from December 18th to January 3rd. I look forward to seeing everyone. So drop me an email and we will all get drunk out of our minds.

Flak And Kevlar Stand

Filed under: USMC, Daily - leatherneck @ 20:21

So it’s finally done. My Flak and Kevlar stand that I had a friend of mine make for me is finally done. It’s made out of 3 1/2 inch wide, 1/2 inch think walled mild steel. It weighs in at 135 lbs. Now many of you non-military people may not know what a Flak and Kevlar stand is. Well when I’m not wearing my Flak Jacket (Bullet-proof vest) and my Kevlar (Helmet made out of Kevlar). This stand holds these items. Click here for some pictures.

IRAQ Classes

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 19:09

So today we sat in a classroom getting briefs and classes on our upcoming deployment to Iraq. This shit was boring as fuck. For most of us who have been there before this was a waste of time. Oh well just another day. I did a nice easy 4-mile run tonight and then some body conditioning. I’m trying to start with 20-mile weeks, and work my way to 40-mile weeks. I also really need to start making to-do lists. I have so much to do so little time. I’m trying to make it home for Christmas this year. I haven’t been home for the holidays for 2 years now. It will be nice to see everyone.

Updates……

Filed under: USMC, Daily - leatherneck @ 11:48

I just got back from the field again, that will explain the lack of new posts. I just wanted to drop some quick updates from the last few days. I didn’t win the Battalion level NCO of the quarter board. It’s not a big deal. You get your picture hung up with NCO of the quarter under it. It mostly looks good. I’m going to be adding some more links on the side columns today or tomorrow. I’m still looking to hear about any topics that people would like to see, or hear about. Drop me a line if you have any ideas.

Kill Your Body

Filed under: Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 17:06

So today i decided to kill my body. I decided to do a pre-workout workout. I started by doing 300 Hindu Squats, 100 flutter kicks, 30 pushups, followed by 6 handstand pushups. Then I went and did some pullups, and then ran 3 miles. Damn my legs where like jelly. I sure was hating life. I’m trying to get my running information with maps and other information up on the site. Standby for some updated features and such (I hope).

Orinoco Driver….

So I installed Debian on a laptop, and am trying to get the right driver to load so that I can put it inot monitor mode. Boy is this being a pain in the ass. I did it twice before but this time it just dosn’t want to work. WTF. I guess i’ll just try again tommarow. It’s getting to be that time of night when I’m tired as hell. It was a super slow day at work today. We sent a few more Marines out into the field to support the current excercise, but that’s about it.

Just Another Sunday

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 23:07

Today was just another normal Sunday. Not to much going on. Marines still hungover from the night before. It was about 1400, and I was just sitting down to a movie and some chow, when I get a knock at my door. Now peaple knocking on my door is not an uncommon thing. I probobly get around 15-20 knocks a day from peaple wanting to know what is going on, or what time we have to be somewhere, or just to be plain annoying. But this time it was the ADNCO ( Two Marines are always on duty at the barracks at all time to make sure they are secure.) He told me they needed me out at Camp Wilson (This is a training camp on base.) I think i scared the young PFC when I let go a string of explatives that would have made a dock worker blush. So I got my happy ass dressed and went out the Camp Wilson for the contact run. They could have solved the problem without me, but one of my new guys was out there and i think he makes everyone a bit jumpy. After about an hour I was back at the barracks. I finished eating and then off to get my ears lowered out in town (Get a haircut.) I then got a few things ready for monday morning, and work. I can tell it’s gunna be a busy week already. It’s just in the air, you can smell it. After that I did a quick 15 minute workout consisting of Hindu Squats (125) Flutterkicks (50) Hindu Pushups (30) and Crunches (100). Then a quick shower and now here I am. Well I better get to be before it gets to late.
