PFT…

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training, Daily - leatherneck @ 16:22

Today we had to run a PFT or Physical Fitness Test for you peaple who don’t do acronyms. It consists of a 3 mile run, 20 pullups, and 100 crunches. You are scored on runtime, and how many pullups and crunches you can do. Each catagory is worth 100 points, with, a total score of 300. I ran a high first class finishing with a 288. I think I could have done better, and beat my best score of 292, but i puked all over myself at the finish line so I can’t ask for more. I just want to remind some of my friends that I will accually be home for christmas this year and I would like to make sure I see everyone. So start trying to figure out some days where we can all get together. Oh and for some of you faggots who like making queer pictures. I know where you work. You know who you are…….

Marine Corps Ball…..

Well it’s been almost a week since the Marine Corps Ball, and I finally got a few pictures I wanted to share. To see the pictures you can click here, here, here, and here. I had a good time, and got plenty drunk celebrating 230 years of the United States Marines. Talking about drinking, I got pretty drunk last night. The great thing was it only took 6 beers. (Cheaper that way) But I did start drinking at 1430, I’m sure that had something to do with it. Today I sat around bored out of my mind. That was till I decided to make a digital picture frame from an old laptop. It’s coming along ok, I am just getting all the software bugs out now. I’m running Damn Small Linux, and Feh as my slideshow software. Tomorrow I have to find a picture frame for this thing. But right now it’s late and I need some sleep. OUT!!!

PT PT Everyday……

Filed under: USMC, Physical Training - leatherneck @ 23:35

So today was not unlike any other day except that I was almost late for formation this morning. A buddy of mine knocked on my door at 0700 this morning jolting me awake. Now normally this would be fine on a weekend. But this morning we had to be at the shop at 0715. You can see where this presents a problem. Well faster then you can say “Fuck Me Running”. I was shaved dressed and driving to work. I got there just in time. It was fucking scary. The rest of the day was normal. I went to the gym with our OIC at afternoon chow. Then we had a nice 3.5-mile run at 1400. The docs wanted some blood to do a test, and I needed a shot to check for tuberculosis. It’s a mandatory thing before deploying. The Docs being the guys they are, wanted me to take my own blood. I had some medical training with them earlier this year, and can administer an IV like a champ. But I didn’t think I had the right angle to do it. I think I’m gunna try it tommorrow. Well it getting late and I’m tired as hell.

Marine Corps Ball Weekend

It’s been about forever since I had a change to post. This past week has been crazy, with the fiancee’ flying out and the Marine Corps Ball. Some have asked what the Marine Corps Ball is. The Ball is held every year to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday. This year the Marine Corps is 230 years old and we have plenty to celebrate. The fiancee’ flew out for the week to attend the ball with me. Now the countdown begins till I can go home before I deploy again.

pre-Deployment Brief

Today we sat in a classroom and received most of our pre-Deployment brief. It took all day, and was boring as all hell. There really isn’t anything anymore that I get out of these briefs. I’ve heard it all before. Most of us have. About 60 % of us are all veterans; it’s kind of funny when you think about it. It’s weird not to have been to war when you live here. I have to be going I have a long day of NCO PME’s (Professional Military Education).

Gear Exchange Part II

Filed under: USMC, Daily - leatherneck @ 21:16

So today we exchanged all our old gear for new, as we like to call it, “High Speed, Low Drag Shit”. We got a bunch of shit that will hopefully make our lives a little better on this next deployment. Nothing else of any importance happened today. Tommorrow we start practice for the Marine Corps Birthday ball. I’m hoping it won’t take all day as most things of that nature do. I better get to bad now I have to be up at 0500 for PT.
